At N’Ice Stick Hockey, our team pushes the existing hockey player’s skills to the next level, by individually assessing each player and developing them to their maximum capability, whether they are a House League or Elite player. We utilize a unique teaching philosophy that will provide your player with invaluable progress that will stick for life. Our training clinics help develop your players skill sets, while our NSH Predators teams travel the globe in search of new hockey challengers.

Our Approach

Our unique approach using customized development in smaller groups provides for the ideal learning environment for heightened talent in a shorter amount of time. Precision and consistency are important elements to progress, while running intense programs in a fun environment

Each program offers a unique opportunity for your player to develop and to enhance his or her abilities and work ethic in all areas applicable to the sport and beyond. As Canada’s national pastime, hockey is found year-round in countless arenas, backyards, driveways, basements and on ponds. It is an accessible sport for all ages, at all levels.

Meet the Team

Want to know who will be training you? Here are a few bio’s of our core training team.
These instructors have thousands of hours of training experience and even more professional playing experience.

Nick Rotondi : Owner / Head Instructor

Nick has been teaching hockey players of all ages around Southern Ontario for over eleven years, from House League level to Elite AAA, OHL and even the National Hockey Leauge. Nick’s coaching experience with several teams and organizations across Ontario makes him a well-rounded instructor with vast knowledge and expertise, and as such he continues to provide a highly sought-after, unique approach to hockey development theories.  Nick currently coaches the Senior AAA Hamilton Steelhawks as well as the Men’s Hockey program at Redeemer College.

Nick surrounds himself with qualified on-ice staff who support his teaching approach while exemplifying his dynamic techniques and bringing the same enthusiasm to each session.

Kyle Allen : Senior Instructor / Spring Hockey Director

Kyle’s coaching style fosters a strong sense of self-confidence that kids can transfer on and off the ice. He has a passion for coaching hockey and emphasizes the importance of trying your hardest and giving it your best. Kyle has an incredible ability to motivate players to achieve their best through the continued development of hockey skills and strengthening their understanding of game situations and their hockey sense.

Spencer Ridgewell : Stickhandling & Shooting Coach

Spencer Ridgewell’s ability to connect with minor hockey players is what separates him and other coaches. His energy is contagious and his stick handling and shooting techniques are very effective, efficient and translate well into game play. Spencer has played 2 World Championships with U19 and 2 World Championships with Men’s Team Canada Floorball (teammates with world famous Pavel Barber)

Spencer has also worked directly under NHL shooting Coach Tim Turk at Coast to Coast hockey academy

Shiann Darkangelo: Skills Instructor

  • U.S. Women’s National Team, World Cup Championship(Gold-2016), two Four Nations Cups(1st-2015; 2nd-2014)
  • Isobel Cup Champion 2017
  • 3 Years Pro hockey
  • Current Team: Toronto Furies (CWHL)

Christy Baltzer : Skating & Edge work coach 

Christy is a figure skating coach who trains Olympic figure skaters as well as OHL and QMJHL hockey players the art of SKATING.  Christy’s specialty is definitely her ability to teach stride work, edges, and her passion for the skill of skating is what sets her apart.

Vanessa Start: Strength and Conditioning Coach

Vanessa grew up playing competitive provincial tiered Softball is now a motivated Strength and Conditioning Coach who trains and mentors players from A, AA and AAA, Major Atom right up to Major Junior A.  Vanessa is currently on the bench with the Hamilton Huskies Minor Midget AAA team, and is personally training some of them (who are currently having amazing seasons).  Vanessa also was the team trainer of the Woodstock Navy Vets Junior C in 2017/18, and last year was on the bench staff with the Hamilton Husky Blues Junior C team.  Vanessa studied Health, Wellness and Fitness and graduated at Mohawk College.  Please contact nick@nicestix.ca to set up personal or team training sessions.

Matthew Lukic: Goalie Development Coach

Matt is a goalie for the Brampton Admirals Jr. A hockey club.  Matt has been a goalie for 8 years now playing AAA to prep hockey and now Jr. A. he has coached for the Stoney Creek Warriors 2003 team in 2015 and for the Hamilton Aces Hockey Club in 2017.  Matt also does summer camps for the Franco Canadian Goalie School in Vaughan training kids ages 7-16.
